What
is the Family Interact Program?
The
Family Interact Program is a center-based, behavioral intervention
program for families who have children with developmental
disabilities. It is baed on the Adaptive Independence Model and
supports families in addressing behavioral problems that interfere
with their child's ability to become fully independent.
What is the
Adaptive Independence Model?
As
the name implies, the Adaptive Independence Model places emphasis
on the individual's ability to function independently across all
adaptive settings. Under this model the child's progress is
measured not only on whether s/he improves in proficiency, but also
if progress is made in reduction of prompting. The extent to which
behaviors interfere with progress is also monitored.
How much does
this program cost?
This
program is currently funded by through the Inland Regional Center
and provides services to families who have children with a
Pervasive Developmental Disorder (e.g. Autistic Disorder,
Asperger's, PDD-NOS). As such, the program costs are covered by the
Regional Center.
Does my child
need to be a client of the Inland Regional
Center?
If
your child is a consumer with any of the 21 Regional
Centers of California, then s/he is
eligible for the program; however, attendance would need to be
authorized by your child's regional center. At this time,
enrollment in the Family Interact Program is available only to
children who are being serviced by a regional
center.
Where is the
program located?
The
Interact Program is located in the City of Loma Linda on Barton
Road, between Waterman and University.
