What is the Family Interact Program?
The Family Interact Program is a center-based, behavioral intervention program for families who have children with developmental disabilities. It is baed on the Adaptive Independence Model and supports families in addressing behavioral problems that interfere with their child's ability to become fully independent.


What is the Adaptive Independence Model?
As the name implies, the Adaptive Independence Model places emphasis on the individual's ability to function independently across all adaptive settings. Under this model the child's progress is measured not only on whether s/he improves in proficiency, but also if progress is made in reduction of prompting. The extent to which behaviors interfere with progress is also monitored.


How much does this program cost?
This program is currently funded by through the Inland Regional Center and provides services to families who have children with a Pervasive Developmental Disorder (e.g. Autistic Disorder, Asperger's, PDD-NOS). As such, the program costs are covered by the Regional Center.


Does my child need to be a client of the Inland Regional Center?
If your child is a consumer with any of the 21 Regional Centers of California, then s/he is eligible for the program; however, attendance would need to be authorized by your child's regional center. At this time, enrollment in the Family Interact Program is available only to children who are being serviced by a regional center.
